JEE Advanced 2018 Complete Information At A Glance

May 20, will be organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. JEE Advanced 2018 is the final stage of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and provides admissions to entitled candidates into the B.Tech programmes offered by 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). To join in JEE Advanced 2018, the candidates will have to be among slightly greater than 2,24,000 rankers of JEE Main 2018.

JEE Advanced is the renowned examination conducted by the seven zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB). B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech or B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Science & Pharmacy is provided in IITs and ISM through JEE Advanced Examination. Here we give the details about JEE Advanced 2018 including registration, application form, eligibility, exam dates, syllabus and rank list.

JEE ADVANCED 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Performance in Class XII

Applicants appearing for JEE Advanced 2018 has to score minimum 75% marks (for Gen/OBC) & 65% marks (SC/ST/PwD) in 12th or equivalent class.


Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.

If a candidate passes Class XII (or equivalent) in 2017, but writes one of the required subjects (mentioned above) in 2018 for improvement or any other reason, then the aggregate percentage will be calculated by considering the maximum marks obtained in the required subjects.

Performance in JEE (Main) 2018

Candidates should be among the top 2,20,000 (including all categories) by scoring positive marks in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2018.

Age Limit

Students must acquire the age on or after October 1, 1993. Five years age relaxation will be provided to the SC/ST candidates. These candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1988.

No of Attempts

Examinee can appear the examination maximum 2 two times in consecutive years. Those appeared the examination in 2017 is also eligible to apply this year.

However, candidates whose Class XII (or equivalent) examination results for the academic year 2015-16 were declared after June 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Must have appeared the 12th class first time with all the subjects either in the year 2017 or 2018. If candidate seeking for the improvement in the year 2018 then he/she has to appear the improvement exam in all the subjects.

Earlier admission at IITs

A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) OR accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. The candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2017 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018. The candidates who have paid seat acceptance fee but not accepted the seat (by not reporting at any reporting centre during joint seat allocation in 2017) are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

OBC-NCL – 27%

For remaining all – 50.5%

For Person with Disability (PwD) – 5% horizontal seats are reserved in each of the categories.

JEE ADVANCED 2018 Examination pattern

1. There will be 2 papers in JEE Advanced with duration of 3 hours for each paper. The appearing candidates have to attempt both the papers compulsorily.

2. There will be 3 sections in both the papers as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

3. The question paper will have MCQ type questions and numerical type questions as well.

4. There will be a penalty of marks for some questions.

5. The question paper will be available both in English and Hindi.

AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) 2018

The applicants interested in B.Arch should have qualified AAT examination. Only JEE Advanced 2018 qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the test. To take part in AAT, the interested candidates have to register online on the official website of JEE Advanced. There will be only one paper and the duration will be 3 hours. The examinees  scoring more than cut off marks will be considered as qualified on AAT and  will get admissions on the basis of their rank achieved in JEE Advanced 2018.

JEE (ADVANCED) 2018 Registration Portal and Schedule

Eligibility: The candidate should satisfy each and every one of the five eligibility criteria FOR APPEARING IN JEE ADVANCED 2018. Registration will be cancelled if, at a later date, it is found that the candidate does not meet any of these five eligibility criteria.

JEE ADVANCED 2018 Registration Procedure

The procedure consists of three basic steps.

Step-1: After login, provide the basic data including the choice of the language of question paper (English or Hindi), the choices of the cities for the examination (CITIES AND TOWNS WHERE JEE (ADVANCED) 2018 WILL BE HELD) The candidate will have the option of adding another cell phone number on top of the number/s provided during JEE (Main) registration. Please note that the JEE (Advanced) 2018 result will be sent to one of these numbers by SMS.

Step-2: Upload the scanned copies of all requisite documents

Step-3: Pay registration fees, Registration fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable.

JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card

JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card / Hall Ticket will be downloaded at the official portal of JEE Advanced. To appear the exam, the candidates have to bring the hard copy of the downloaded admit card and one original identity proof.

JEE Advanced Result 2018

JEE Advanced 2018 Result will be announced at the official website of JEE Advanced 2018.  The qualifying candidates can check their category-wise All India Rank (AIR) after the publication of result at the official website of JEE Advanced 2018.

Publication of ORS and answer key online

The JEE Advanced authority will give the provision of ORS and answer key. The ORS of qualified candidates will be available along with machine-read responses. JEE Advanced 2018 Answer key will be declared very soon after the examination for both the papers.

 JEE Advanced Rank list 2018 will be arranged on the basis of JEE Advance performance. The marks of both the papers of JEE Advance will be considered for ranking. If more than one examinee got same marks then the ranking will be done on the basis of marks scored in mathematics. If this policy does not solve this problem then the higher ranking will be provided to the candidate who scored more in Physics. If this policy also doesn’t work then the candidates will be allotted the rank.

JoSAA Counselling 2018

JOSAA 2018 counselling will be held for  the  admission to the seats offered by the IITs, ISM, NITs, other Govt. Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). It  will be done by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) through centralize counselling. JoSAA will declare  the schedule for the joint seat allocation process separately.
